Best breakfast in Humboldt County

We are at the Samoa Boat Ramp county park (map), across the bay from Eureka. We were here back in May (in fact, we seem to be redoing our May trip, but in reverse), and we decided it was an excellent place to stop if one wants to have breakfast at the Samoa Cookhouse just about four miles back up the road.

Eating at the Samoa Cookhouse is a must-do activity for anyone visiting the Eureka area (well, unless you're vegan), and, while they serve three squares a day, seven days a week, I find breakfast to be the best meal they offer. So much so that it was worth it to us to pay $15 just to dry camp in this park (plus another dollar for the dog). The park also has a lovely view of the bay and Eureka beyond it, and there are a handful of sites with water spigots, plus restrooms here.

In a few minutes, we will head over to the Cookhouse for breakfast.

  1. I thought you might get a kick out of this :)

"When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal
gasoline and plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had."

Too funny! Especially that Sean's post about breakfast prompted you to write :-P
