Monday Miscellany: Introduction

I've been wanting to be more active on the blog as a contributing writer and not just the occasional photographer. Sean's goal is to post every time we move to a new location, although lately it seems more like he posts every time something new goes wrong with Odyssey. Since he takes care of describing our overnight sites and all things related to bus maintenance and repair, I have been at a loss for daily inspiration.

A number of websites that I read regularly have theme days, such as "Quote of the Week" on Saturdays or a product review on Wednesday. Having daily themes seems like a good way to organize my thoughts and give some direction to my writings.

So, here is my first stab at seven categories:

Monday Miscellany
- odds and ends that don't fit into the other categories.

Talkback Tuesday - the strange and wonderful things that people say to us (or behind our backs when they think we can't hear them.)

Website Wednesday - blogs, forums, and other sites that we read.

Thursday Tips - hints and ideas about RVing that we've found work well.

Fuzzy Friday - the life and times of our pets.

Small Space Saturday
- organizing and storing the stuff of life so it doesn't overwhelm the bus.

Super Sunday - what we enjoy most about the fulltiming lifestyle.

Although we don't often say it explicitly, we always welcome feedback from our readers. To comment on any post, click the link at the bottom of that post that says "O comments," "2 comments," etc. Today would be a good time to comment on what you would like to read about here on Our Odyssey.

If you just want to view the comments that others have left, you can click on the title of any post and then scroll to the bottom for comments. For instance, on this post, click on the bold words "Monday Miscellany: Introduction."

  1. Go for it, gal! Great idea... and it gives us a woman's point of view. Include funny little things that happen in everyday life when you can. We always get a chuckle out of re-reading ours.

The best blog is getting even better! It's fun to follow your adventures. Thanks, Ron & Judie

  2. Hi, I read your blog all the time...not everyday but nearly. I've sent you email asking questions about your photos and videos and I'm excited that Louise may be blogging too. I find the writing is great whether it's about mechanical issues or a place you are describing. I'd be happy to see any of the topics you mention. I hope Sean will keep blogging too. I know how hard it is to keep things fresh and interesting but you'd be surprised to learn some of things that interest your readers. Anyway, can't wait to see the upcoming posts. Oh, and I really like your descriptions and tidbits about overnight stops...very informative!

  3. What do you use for reference material when you are planning your next stop. I know you use state parks and Wal Marts when available but is there a book or group of books or the internet you use to plan your daily stops?

  4. L & S- summer time is a great time for this ol' school teacher to peruse your wonderful Odyssey blog. I have a kind of random question that perhaps others might be interested in as well, namely, have you two done a comparison between Odyssey energy use and a single-family home with similar appliances/ features? I assume your MPG on the road are low, but how about your fridge, etc? Just wondering...

  5. Thanks to everyone who rose to the "make a comment" challenge!

Rick and Bear, very good questions. I can easily review the pros and cons of my camping library and will do so, soon.

The comparison between RV living and a fixed dwelling in terms of energy usage is more complicated, but certainly something that we think about. I suspect Sean will tackle that one.
