Vector is a "trawler style" motor yacht, completed in 2003 mostly by the now-defunct Ocean Venturers in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Ocean Venturers went out of business before completing even a single boat, and Vector, mostly complete at the time, was finished off by her original buyer, one Robert Leitz, using labor that was suddenly unemployed due to the bankruptcy. Her USCG certificate of documentation shows "Robert Leitz" as the builder, and she carries a CG-issued "home built" hull number. When asked by anyone other than customs authorities or boarding officers, we just tell people it's an Ocean Venturers.
She has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure or "house" and displaces 110,000 pounds (50 metric tons) in cruising trim, probably closer to 100,000 "light ship." Perhaps 3,000-4,000 pounds of that is ballast in the form of lead pigs secured in the keel area.

One of these days I should probably get around to making a video tour of the boat, but for now you will have to use your imagination. Hundreds of photos can be found in the pages of this blog, including some nice shots of various interiors, and when I have some time I will try to link those here. In the meantime here is one exterior shot that gives a nice overview, as we were anchoring off Fort Macon near Beaufort, NC.

Beautiful boat Sean. Seems like you are equipped to cross oceans. Was nice to meet you, hope our paths cross again.
ReplyDeleteAmazing boat with true long-range capabilities.
ReplyDeleteIs that a scooter up top?
ReplyDeleteI'm currently sitting on my patio in south Florida with my two Dachshunds, drooling over your boat and getting ready to paint my outdrive. The weather looks nice in the picture.
