Today's repair project

Simrad AP22 auto pilot failed this morning. Plastic pins inside that hold the buttons in place are breaking due to age and letting water leak in. This unit from the fly bridge was full of water but seems to be working fine now that Sean disassembled it and dried it out.

  1. I just stumbled upon your blog from a bus conversion forum. Funny, as I'm a big boater and getting into the RV'ing (but away from people, as ya'll do). Avoiding parks and marinas is my goal as I transition. Anyway, I'm writing here to suggest checking out the Hatteras boat forum. There are many guys with similar interests and several have repaired all kinds of electronics from autopilots to one guy re-designing his own stabilizer controller (search past posts): http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/

    1. Thanks for the suggestion. I do belong to that forum, principally because we looked at quite a few Hatteras 48 LRCs. (We also looked at one 58 LRC, but decided it was way too big for us.) Great forum.
